We would like to thank you sincerely for your interest in The Humanity Exchange. The following is an overview of our simple application process.

Step 1

Know your stuff! Peruse the country pages of our website. They have thorough information on our different Volunteer Abroad and Intern Abroad options. Review the fees applicable to your program, and learn about ways you can fund your program. If there are any questions that have not been answered in the Frequently Asked Questions, please contact us. We would be happy answer any of your questions, or to further discuss your potential placement with The Humanity Exchange.

Fill out our online application form. Once you have submitted, you will see a message acknowledging your online submission. This confirms that we have received your application.

Step 2

We will respond to you within three business days. We will either request your resume and availability for an interview (only in cases where interview is required), or confirm details of your placement including country, program, duration, and potential departure date. Exact departure date is not necessary for registration. You will also receive registration instructions to confirm your placement with The Humanity Exchange.

Step 3

To register, we require a 150USD deposit and emergency contact information. Once your registration has been completed, you will receive:

  • A Pre-Departure Manual that will guide you through every step of the process, from booking flights to figuring out currency. In addition to logistical matters, your Pre-Departure Manual contains valuable country specific information.

  • A Cultural Preparation Package- This is an excellent self-study recourse for you to use in preparation for living and volunteering in a cross-cultural work environment.

  • THEX Fundraising Guide

  • THEX Blogging Guide. If you want to document your travels for friends and family back home, or to inform sponsors about all the great things your doing, you can follow this guide. We will even link your blog to our site. Click here to see how others are doing it.

The Humanity Exchange will always be available to guide you as you prepare to go abroad. While we provide the above mentioned resources, we will respond to any queries you have within one business day.

In preparation for your placement, we will:

  • Put you in touch with your Exchange Manager

  • Connect you with other volunteers who will be in-country at the same time as you

  • Arrange your placement, airport pick-up, accommodations, and language classes

  • Let you know when you need to pay the balance of your program (usually two months before your departure)
