| Standard French Description | Learn French while volunteering, interning, or researching. In Abidjan, you may also just learn French. Instruction in both locations is one-on-one. All teachers are university-trained French professors. You will learn through reading & writing, the use of media, and field trips where you are guided in actively praticing your French. |

| Intensive add-on | This is an optional two weeks that you can add on to the beginning of your volunteer, intern, or research program. In this short time be able to
verbally express opinions and acquired knowledge fluently, coherently, and consistently; with this level you can complete a volunteer or internship program which requires basic French. Intensive add-on is alwasy taught one-on-one, or two students to a class. You will study 3hours, 5 days a week, for 2 weeks. |

Whether you want to polish up the knowledge of a highschool class, learn from scratch, or turn your advanced skills into fluent, learning in an immersion environment is the most effective way to learn French. We have French Abroad opportunities in the Ivory Coast and Cameroon.
Our French Abroad Program is very flexible. You can study any length of time from two weeks to four months. We will make sure you have time to get to know the country of your placement; this is an invaluable way to improve your language skills. Furthermore, it is important not just to learn French, but also to get to know the Ivory Coast. By learning more about the local area, as well as it's people, you will benefit from a well-rounded learning experience.
Our French Abroad Program is very flexible, you can study any length of time. If you would like to study for a period that is not outlined in our program fees, contact us for cost information.
You will be living with a local host family. They do not simply provide a bed for you to sleep in. Rather, they will welcome you as a part of their daily lives, sharing their traditions and experiences with you. Host families for language learning participants do not speak any English. This ensures that you will benefit from the ultimate immersion environment. Your host family will work with you to improve your language skills during your French Abroad placement.

Steps to Learning French Abroad

Choose a Departure Date and Duration You can learn French at anytime of year. The minimum time required to volunteer is two weeks, and the maximum is four months. We are flexible, and it is entirely up to you when to volunteer.

Receive Your French Abroad Placement After completing the application process and filling out the online application form, we will provide you with the details of your individualized French placement.

Prepare Once you have your French Abroad placement, you are ready to prepare. You will receive a Pre-Departure Manual that will guide you through every step of the process, from booking flights to figuring out currency. In addition to logistical matters, your Pre-Departure Manual contains valuable country specific information. We will also provide you with a Cultural Preparation Package and Fundraising Guide. The staff at The Humanity Exchange is always available to guide you as you prepare to go abroad. While we provide the above mentioned resources, we are also available 24/7 to guide you through the preparation process.

Learn French When your French Abroad placement rolls around you will be excited for the adventure to begin. Your Exchange Manager, who will be available 24/7, will be there to pick you up at the airport. Once you arrive, you will get to know your host family, be introduced to the teachers at your French school, and get started on your amazing French Abroad experience.
